The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety is kicking off today in Adelaide. They have invited specific industry representatives to give the Commissioners some advice on their key concerns. United Voice will be participating in this early stage as we continue working towards our big submission hand over in July.
They’ll also be having hearings in other capital cities and regional areas throughout the year. They haven’t announced where and when but when they do announce United Voice members will be giving evidence and taking action so make sure you’re signed up to the campaign website for updates!
United Voice and the Health Services Union will be releasing a national survey of aged care workers soon, pulling together the stories and experiences of our members. These surveys will form the basis of the submission we put together in July, so it’s important that you fill it in and talk to your colleagues about doing the same.
It’s really important you do a few things today so you’re ready for a big year for Our Turn to Care:
- Sign up to the campaign website so you can get regular updates.
- Sign up to our Facebook groups so you can connect with other aged care workers across Australia. Nationally, go here; if you are in Western Australia, go here.
- Talk to your colleagues about the campaign. The more aged care workers are involved the stronger the campaign will be. Forward this email, invite people to the Facebook group or website or just have a chat in the lunch room. Every care worker deserves to have a voice in the future of your industry.
