A paramedic with the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) recently won recognition of her prior service with the NSW Ambulance Service and the Australian Defence Force.
The prior service recognition, dating back to 2003, meant the paramedic was able to transfer unused entitlements such as long service and sick leave to her present position with QAS.
The paramedic has been working for QAS for the last six years and the prior service recognition also meant her pay progression entitlement was adjusted.
The resulting recouped benefits meant the United Voice member came out over $20,000 better off.
Chasing up entitlements denied to you by your employer can be resolved so much more quickly and effectively with the help of your union.
