Canberra hospital cleaners have been undervalued and under-appreciated for years on end. Cleaners felt like they weren't respected by their employer.
"It's very hard yakka - for not much money."
- Helen, Delegate and hospital cleaner.
So they got organised. They joined their union and began lobbying their government, petitioned and rallied and spoke to the media - and finally went on strike.
'We didn't want to [strike], this is a hospital but we were pushed into a corner,'
-Linda Morrison, Canberra Hospital Cleaner,
After a long, hard campaign, finally they forced their employer to act. They won the respect they deserve. When workers stand together - they win.
