Educator wins $3300 in backpay

A Victorian early childhood educator and union member has fought for her entitlements after being incorrectly classified in her role when she started.

When roster changes meant the educator couldn’t continue at her workplace, they tried to terminate her employment without notice and without paying out her leave entitlements.

She fought back, with her union, and was able to secure over $3300 in backpay including classification corrections, accrued leave and notice pay.

It shows the fight - even in tough circumstances - can bring big benefits.
