Workers at Princes Linen Altona, in Melbourne, voted this weekend to go bargaining in a majority support determination that was supported by over 75% of workers.
The Altona laundry crew are currently on award pay and conditions, earning only $19 an hour or less.
Other Princes Linen workplaces in Melbourne have already negotiated their own agreements with better pay and conditions, above the award.
Management didn’t want them to also get onto an agreement and fought back, but these workers wouldn’t take no for an answer.
Now they will have the chance to take their future into their own hands and win jobs they can count on.
Congrats to the workers on standing together to demand a fairer deal.
