$10,814 underpayment win!
Five members employed by Glad Security at a site in the Brisbane CBD have won compensation for being denied a first aid allowance entitlement over a four-year period.
With the assistance of United Voice, the site delegate organised colleagues to determine the extent of the underpayment before seeking payment from the employer.
When they were unable to reach a satisfactory resolution with Glad Security, the union took the case to the Fair Work Commission.
Following the commission proceedings, the company compensated union members $10,814 for non-payment of the allowance.
It’s important to speak up and question work practices if you think something isn’t right. Having your union behind you and your colleagues beside you leaves an employer nowhere to hide when they’re in the wrong.
