On 8 May 2019, the National Union of Workers and United Voice filed an application with the Fair Work Commission (FWC) for submission of amalgamation to ballot. You can download a copy of the application here.
The Commission granted the application in a written decision on 7 June 2019. You can download a copy of the decision here.
Previously the unions had filed an application for a declaration of a community of interest which the FWC granted in a decision on 5 June 2019. You can download a copy of the decision here.
The ballot will be conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC). At the request of the AEC the original ballot dates set down by FWC were varied on 19 June 2019. You can download a copy of the decision here.
In a further decision on 26 June 2019, the FWC at the request of the unions altered the “yes case” and outline of the scheme of amalgamation which were filed with the original application. You can download a copy of the decision and the amended documents here.
