Imagine being told you have to attend training outside working hours – unpaid.
Not only did eight United Voice members employed by Catholic Healthcare Fortitude Valley think this was unfair, a quick glance of their EBA also revealed – in black and white – that mandatory training outside rostered hours must be paid at ordinary time.
With the help of their union, the eight healthcare staff took the issue up with their employer who conceded that they owed their workers the outstanding wages for attending training.
